Alyona Danilochkina Women’s European basketball championship came to an end 3rd of July with the victory of the Russian national team. Muscovite Alyona Danilochkina has brought the serious contribution to the Russian victory and has been deservedly announced the MVP of the tournament.
During the play-offs she had to change the position from the shooting guard to the point guard. Danilochkina consulted excellent. In decisive Eurobasket matches Alyona organized team attack and defense as a skilled conductor. Even though this Championship was her first among adults.
- Alyona, my congratulations with the victory and your MVP title! On this tournament you have showed yourself both as s ball controller, and as a shooter. You had the best percent of 3-point throws realization and the third place - on hits from an average distance among all participants of the European Championship. Can you share a secret of your remarkable throw?
- May be, the secret is in my first coaches in specialized sports school "Trinta": Tatyana Makarycheva and Natalia Posnova. They have taught me how to make a throw right. What can I tell more? Thank them very much!
- What was your attitude to the refusal of Epifaniya Prince to go to Eurobasket?
- When I have learnt that Prince does not go to the European championship, I was happy for the girls who played on this position. After all it meant that they will have more time to play. I was put on the position of the first number during the tournament. Truly, I didn’t feel nervous or tough cargo of responsibility.
- How much difficult you have appeared to be reconstructed?
- You know, in the childhood I didn’t like the role of the point guard, I felt uncertain in it. But, nevertheless, at school I played on this position periodically – the coaches taught me to rule the game. Therefore it is impossible to tell that the change of the position shocked me - I have been assured that all will turn out.
- The team begun tournament poorly, was defeated by Latvia and Bielorussia. But to the final part of play-off the national team looked excellent. How can you explain such transformation?
- The reason of the bad start is simple – we couldn’t start playing at once, "at sight". But we gradually got used to each other, step by step typing the form and improving mutual understanding. And to the semi-final and the final the team was like an iron fist.
- You have just signed the new contract with "Nadezhda" from Orenburg. Did you have any temptations after such a successful performance - to wait for more interesting offers?
- No, I did not. I consider that I made a right choice. This year "Nadezhda" has won Superleague’s bronze, so I have changed "Vologda-Chevakata" to the stronger team. I consider that it is necessary to move forward gradually, by small short steps instead of pursuing money.
