Oars on water

 From 4th till 6th June 2010 the 49th International Grand Moscow Regatta will pass at the Olympic canal "Krylatskoye". about 400 sportsmen from 11 countries will take part in this competition. The regatta will pass in the context of celebrating 150th anniversary of Russian rowing and the International sports Forum “Russia – sports state”.
On June, 1st ITAR-TASS hold the press-conference devoted to this event. The Regatta was announced by the head Moskomsport Michael Stepaniants, the president of Russian rowing Federation Leonid Drachevskiy and the head coach of Russian national team Nikolay Rusak.
Nikolay Rusak told that “the interest to the Regatta grows because of the last years’ high organizational level. This year the number of participating crews rises on 31. Unfortunately, our national team concedes in skill to many rivals and acts unsatisfactorily, but we hope to change the situation. For this purpose we are working hard on the new preparation techniques”.
Michael Stepaniants hopes that revival of the Moscow Regatta will strongly impact on the rowing development in our capital and growth of its popularity. He also told that the rowing canal in Krylatskoye would be globally reconstructed. In 2014 it will hold the World Championships, that’s why it must correspond to the world requirements.
“Boat racing is a fine kind of sports. Considering that the next year the Regatta will celebrate its 50th anniversary, we will try to strengthen the participants membership, - has declared Stepaniants. – And after the World Championships in 2014 we will try to organize a World Cup stage in Krylatskoye”.
