ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2011 will take place in Moscow on April 24th –May 1st after the threat of more earthquakes and concerns over rising radiation levels eventually forced Japan. The Tokyo tournament firstly was postponed, and then cancelled.
ISU has received applications to hold the Event from 6 Member federation. At least the decision of the ISU Council was made in Russia’s favor. The tournament would be held in the Megasport Arena at Khodynka Field, which can seat up to 14,000 spectators. Russia had to deal with the major challenge of preparing for such an important competition in less than a month, which is absolutely unprecedented.
